The crash happened at the overpass between Exit 16B: PA 74 North Queen Street and Exit 15: I-83 BUSINESS - South George Street around 3 p.m., PennDOT officials say.

The bed of the dump truck was seemingly too tall and became stuck under the bridge and also cracked it, according to PennDOT officials.

The interstate has been closed at Exit 16 and was expected to remain so for two days, according to York County Emergency Management, but unexpectedly reopened around 4 p.m. Thursday, August 24, according to PennDOT.

The bridge itself will be closed for repairs, also for two days, according to a release by York County Regional police.

The public is asked to use the signed detours for alternative routes.

One person suffered minor injuries in the crash according to emergency dispatch.
